Our vision is to help people live healthier, smoke-free lives, and to create the supportive environment needed to stay focused & motivated. Qwidder’s services provide real-time access to your smoking habits so that you can track your progress, set your goals, and ultimately take control of your health. In building these tools, we are committed to the principles of respecting your privacy, keeping your data safe, and letting you decide how your information is used and shared. The following is our assurance to you:
Because we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to help you achieve your progress goals, this policy may change over time, but any future changes will not affect data that was collected under a previous version of this policy. If any modifications substantially change your rights, we will send an email summarizing the changes to the address associated with your Qwidder account and provide notice on our website.
And remember, we are here to help. If something in this policy is unclear, or if you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What Data Does Qwidder Collect?
WHEN YOU CREATE A QWIDDER ACCOUNT.
If you want to track your success & progress over time, you must create a Qwidder account. When you create a Qwidder account, we will ask for some personal information, such as your email address, your age, and current smoking habits. Your email address will be your Qwidder account user name, which you will use to log-into your account. We do not display your email address to other users. Instead, others will see the name or nickname you enter in your profile settings.
You can also create your Qwidder account using a different credential such as a Facebook or Google+ account. We will ask permission to access basic information from that account, such as your name, profile picture, and friend list. You can stop sharing that information with us at any time by removing Qwidder’s access to that account. We may access your phone’s contact list for the purpose of letting you identify contacts who are also Qwidder users. We do not store your phone’s contact list, and it is deleted immediately after it is used for this purpose.
WHEN YOU ADD INFORMATION TO YOUR ACCOUNT.
You can customize your Qwidder experience by adding other types of information to your account, such as personalizing your profile with photos, participating in live chats, or sending messages of encouragement to your Qwidder supporters. Whenever you add this type of data, we collect it and store it in your Qwidder account.
WHEN YOU VISIT OUR SITES.
Qwidder collects industry standard data from everyone who visits our website - even if you don’t have a Qwidder account. This includes log data that automatically records information about your visit, such as your browser type, operating system, the URL of the page that referred you, the different actions you performed, and the IP address you used to access pages on the website. We use this type of information to provide you with an experience that’s relevant to your location based on the IP address, to prevent site misuse, and to ensure the website is working properly.
WHEN YOU SYNC YOUR DEVICE.
When you sync your device through our applications, data recorded on your device about your activity is transferred from your device to our servers. This data is stored and used to provide the Qwidder Service and is associated with your account. Each time a sync event occurs, we log data about the transmission. Some examples of the log data are the sync time and date, device battery level, and the IP address used when syncing.
WHEN YOU CONTACT US FOR HELP.
Whenever you contact Qwidder for help, we collect your name and email address along with additional information you provide in your request so that we can provide you with assistance and improve the Qwidder Service. If you contact us when you are already logged in to your account, the web form automatically pre-fills this information, so you don’t have to type it manually. You can also contact Qwidder on public forums such as Twitter or Facebook; however, we cannot maintain the privacy of your communication to us if you contact us through these channels.
WHEN YOU INVITE A SUPPORTER.
To help you stay motivated on your journey to a smoke-free life, Qwidder allows you to invite a friend or family member to act as your accountability partner (real-time supporter). You can invite a supporter in several ways, such as by providing their email address. When you share your friend’s contact information with us to add them as a supporter, we will only use it for this purpose as a part of the account creation process.
INFORMATION FROM OTHER SOURCES.
We do not collect any information about you from other sources outside of your interaction with the Qwidder Service.
How We Use Your Data.
Qwidder uses your data to provide you with a high-quality experience, to help you stay focused & motivated, and to improve and protect the Qwidder Service. Here are some examples:
· Age and sex/gender are used to help determine how quickly your body metabolizes nicotine & the resulting speed of your health progress achievements.
· Contact information is used to send you notifications, allow other Qwidder users to add you as a supporter, and to inform you about new features or products we think you would be interested in. These examples in particular are communications that you can choose to opt-out of.
· Data and logs are used in research to understand and improve the Qwidder Service; to troubleshoot the Qwidder Service; to detect and protect against error, fraud or other criminal activity; and to enforce the Qwidder Terms of Service.
What Data May Be Shared With Third-Parties.
The bottom-line: We do not sell any data that could identify you. We only share data about you when it is necessary to provide Qwidder’s services to you, when the data is de-identified and aggregated, or when you direct us to share it.
DATA THAT COULD IDENTIFY YOU.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is data that includes a personal identifier like your name, email or physical address, or data that could reasonably be linked back to you. We will only share this data under the following circumstances:
· With companies that are contractually engaged in providing us with services, such as order fulfillment, email management and credit card processing. These companies are obligated by contract to safeguard any PII they receive from us.
· If we believe that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, valid legal process (e.g., subpoenas or warrants served on us), or governmental or regulatory request, to enforce or apply the Terms of Service, to protect the security or integrity of the Qwidder Service, and/or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Qwidder, its employees, users, or others. If we are going to release your data, we will do our best to provide you with notice in advance by email, unless we are prohibited by law from doing so.
DATA THAT DOES NOT IDENTIFY YOU (DE-IDENTIFIED DATA).
Qwidder may share or sell aggregated, de-identified data that does not identify you, with partners and the public in a variety of ways, such as by providing research or reports about smoking cessation and user habits. When we provide this information, we perform appropriate procedures so that the data does not identify you and we contractually prohibit recipients of the data from re-identifying it back to you.
DATA THAT YOU DIRECT US TO SHARE.
Other Ways You Might Share Your Data.
DEFAULT VISIBILITY SETTINGS.
The privacy settings on new Qwidder accounts are set to reveal minimal data about you with the purpose of getting you active and involved with the Qwidder Service.
In order to post to the Qwidder community message boards, you will be asked to create a community username that’s separate from your Qwidder profile name. This community username will be posted next to any comments you publish on community message boards. Other information, like a profile photo that you’ve added to your Qwidder account will also be visible on message boards, depending on your Qwidder account settings.
CONTESTS & GIVEAWAYS.
Qwidder may also ask you to participate in surveys (processed by Qwidder or third-parties) that help us understand your use of the Qwidder Service. Any Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to Qwidder (or supplied by you or Qwidder to such third-party survey providers) in connection with these surveys will only be used in relation to that survey and as stated in this policy.
How Long We Save Your Data.
We store your Personally Identifiable Information for as long as you maintain a Qwidder account.
How To Deactivate Your Qwidder Account.
You can deactivate your Qwidder account by contacting email@example.com. When you do, data that can identify you will be removed from the Qwidder Service, including but not limited to your email, name, photo(s), supporter list, and links to sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Backup copies of this data will be removed from our server based upon an automated schedule, which means it may persist in our archive for a short period of time. Qwidder may continue to use your de-identified data after you deactivate your account.
Qwidder's Policies Regarding Children.
Qwidder is not directed at persons under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under 13 years of age. If you are aware of a user under the age of 13 using Qwidder, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I Opt-Out Of Receiving Qwidder Emails?
Absolutely! You can opt-out of receiving weekly progress summaries, trophy notifications, contests, giveaways, surveys and promotional emails by unsubscribing via the “Unsubscribe” link in any Qwidder email. Opting-out of these emails will not end transmission of important service-related emails that are necessary to your use of the Qwidder Service.
How Does Qwidder Keep My Data Safe?
Qwidder uses a combination of technical and administrative security controls to maintain the security of your data via third-party services. If you have a security-related concern, please contact email@example.com.
Data From International Visitors.
The Qwidder Service is jointly hosted and operated in Canada and the United States, and is subject to Canadian and US laws. Any personal information that you provide to Qwidder is being transferred to Qwidder for use solely in Canada/United States and will be hosted on North American servers. You consent to the transfer of your personal information to Canada and the United States.
